Acorn and playdoh hide and seek

After acorn and playdoh math we played a sensory activity of hiding the acorns and retrieving them.  He had to feel how many there were with his eyes closed.

This was still a numeracy activity matching the number of hidden acorns revealed.

Acorns and playdoh math

On our walks Dylan has noticed acorns on the floor. We collected some on our last walk and decided to get them out while he was playing with playdoh.

He made acorns and had to match the number of real acorns to the playdoh ones.

Then he counted then.

Then he had to subtract them.

Then he had to add them.

He did extremely well at this I was very impressed.

Then he had to add them all together.

I have seen the acorn tops being used to imprint circles that could be used in numeracy.
